Photographic artist Susanna Majuri’s fairy-tale-like photographs have attracted attention at exhibitions in New York, Tokyo, Reykjavik and elsewhere. This is Majuri’s first major solo show in Finland. Her pictures are of real places, which in the photographs become landscapes of the imagination and showcases for captivating colours. The photographer invites unknown people into the pictures, people who are then characters in the stories in the photographs. In recent years, water has become an even more pivotal element in Majuri’s pictures. It is both a symbol and a protective, revelatory space, where things like sisterhood, friendship and erotic love between girls become possible.
Susanna Majuri (b. 1978) is a graduate of Turku Arts Academy and the University of Art and Design Helsinki, and has participated in numerous international exhibitions.
Meet the Artist: Susanna Majuri introduces the exhibition to the public at 2 pm on 7.2. and at 2 pm 16.5. Museum entrance fee.
