The Theatre Museum: Room for Love – Acted Love
THE THEATRE MUSEUM: ROOM FOR LOVE - ACTED LOVE
14.2.2017-2.9.2018, The Theatre Museum, Cable Factory
The Theatre Museum celebrates Finland’s 100 years of independence with the strongest of all emotions – love.
Acted Love opens perspectives to how and on which premises love has been interpreted on Finnish stages throughout the past hundred years. We approach love as a dominant emotional state, that gives rise to empowerment and destruction, and changes the world.
Love has always been a central, all-conquering, and fateful theme in the dramatic literature. We examine how love – that first spark of love brimming with optimism or the strength and meaningfulness of a matured relationship – has always driven the performing arts in different cultures in different times.
The romantic image of a summer’s day in Finland is portrayed through theatre and cinema in collaboration with the National Audiovisual Institute. In the exhibition Finnish cotton-ball clouds meet the Shakespearian fantasy world and the darker tones of Russian drama.
The Acted Love exhibition is part of a larger initiative Room for Love built in collaboration with three other museums.
