Finnish dance has always been international. The artists have sought education, livelihood, inspiration and collaboration from abroad. On the other hand, foreign teachers, groups and choreographers have visited Finland. The exhibition, which opens in November, explores the interesting international history of Finnish contemporary dance from the beginning of the 20th century to the 21st century. What has the story of the dance artist’s work been like? What different influences have been present in Finnish dance art? What has deep movement been like at different times? The Deep Movement exhibition features archive finds and new openings from the current field. In the video interviews Marjo Kuusela, Jorma Uotinen, Susanna Leinonen, Katri Soini and Valtteri Raekallio talk about how internationality has affected their work.
