Indulge the Movement - Contemporary Dance for All / Giorgio Convertito

This course led by Giorgio Convertito goes with a subtitle: The Expanded Body - A series of classes investigating and challenging the physical borders of the body.

The working theory at the base of these classes is that movement and movement perception go beyond the physical borders of the body, including, affecting and making use of the environment where the dance happens. At the basis of the classes are focused explorations and attentive listening of body systems (cells, fluids), structures (skeleton, muscles, bones, connective tissues) and sections (feet, legs, torso, arms, head), in order to develop a deeper understanding of movement and its extension into the environment.

Through this practice we will learn how to allow for and discover movement, and to refine our physical awareness and presence. Listening to what the body has to say with an open and curious mind will generate personal, genuine and imaginative movement. Most of the work will be done as solo, with some partner work involving touch as a tool to bring the body into focus. These classes propose a technical work that requires the utmost level of discipline and integrity as it offers many questions and no dogmas. This type of practice applies to any level of experience in dance.

The language of this course is mainly English but if necessary also Finnish.

Please register to the courses in advance, at least two weeks before the beginning of a course by 31 October 2023 the latest. After this date, you can still register if there are places left in the groups. Indulge the Movement courses are suitable for everyone, and you can participate even without previous dance experience.
