Jörn Donner (1933-2020) was a controversial and influential figure in Nordic culture from the 1950s onward. He was a leading representative of the cinematic New Wave, and his essay Finnish Cinema at Year Zero became a defining concept in Finnish film discourse.

Donner’s life’s work was wide-ranging, extending from cinema to politics and literature. The Jörn Donner Gallery presents twelve films directed by Donner and two films produced by him through their original posters, spanning from the 1960s to the 2000s, as well as Donner’s editing table.

The Jörn Donner Gallery has been created in collaboration with the Finnish Arts and Culture Agency and the Donner family. The exhibition posters and Donner’s editing table are from the Finnish Arts and Culture Agency’s collections, while the family has contributed photographs from their private archives.
