Muu Helsinki Contemporary Art Centre: BOOKED 2025
It is with great pleasure that we announce the forthcoming edition of BOOKED.
Once again, our wholly interdisciplinary approach to artist’s books will present a diverse selection of books by artists, as well as posters, drawings, a code-based lyrical essay combining text and animation with a degree of randomness, videos, a sound poem, and several installations. For example, one installation, comprised of rotatable marble cylinders, riffs on medieval prayer books, diary entries and the quotidian. Moreover — and for the first time ever — BOOKED encompasses two off-site projects.
Participants for this year’s event were selected by a jury composed of artist and writer John Gayer, sculptor and Art Hub Pikisaari co-founder Minna Kangasmaa, visual and media artist and Art Hub Pikisaari co-founder Tuomo Kangasmaa, and artist Tuomas Ollikainen.
Of the more than 130 applications made in response to MUU’s Open Call, 47 artists, artist groups and art organisations were nominated to take part. Countries represented in this year’s event include Austria, Brazil, China, Finland, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Iran, Puerto Rico, Serbia, Slovakia, Sweden and the United Kingdom.
