Sivuun Ensemble: Silentopia

Silentopia is an interdisciplinary event straddling arts and sciences. It offers a compassionate space within which to examine feelings aroused both by the ecocrisis and our complicity in it. Dance theatre Sivuun Ensemble invites the audience to Erkko Hall where a ritualistic performance transports us towards transformation. Choreographer Ninni Perko’s furious, delicate and sacred initiation rite visualises new worlds and possibilities by building bridges towards a brighter future. The whole working group - musicians, dancers, sound designer and scientists - all participate in the performance which takes place in a chapel of nature. The Earth’s supreme communal residents, ants, provide an alternative perspective. Silentopia premiered on April 14, 2022 at Espoo City Theatre as part of the April Jazz festival.
